The two educators teaching Italian in Harrison County schools have firsthand knowledge of their subject, thanks to their younger years living in Calabria, Italy. Superintendent Dr. Mark Manchin added Italian to the foreign language curriculum this year after a parent survey showed it was the most popular choice.
Annalisa Sirianni is the Italian instructor at Lincoln High School and teaches the course through distance learning at Bridgeport High. Rose Mazza splits her time between Liberty and Robert C. Byrd high schools. She also uses technology to broadcast a course to South Harrison students.
