Italy's craft beer industry is celebrating a significant achievement in 2026, marking 30 years of creativity, entrepreneurship, and growing appreciation for independently produced beer. Despite a slowdown in overall beer consumption, Italian craft breweries are strengthening their position in a market traditionally dominated by major industrial producers.
According to figures released by Unionbirrai, the association representing independent Italian brewers, craft beer production reached approximately 720,000 hectoliters in 2025, accounting for 4.2% of national beer production. This represents an important milestone for a sector that struggled for years to move beyond the symbolic 3% threshold.
