Italian Civic League to host Columbus Day celebration

The Italian Civic League will be hosting its 76th Columbus Day luncheon at the Diplomat Banquet Center, 1956 Lyell Ave. in Gates, on Monday, Oct. 10. The banquet in honor of Cristoforo Colombo, an Italian explorer and navigator. There will be a flag raising ceremony at 11:15 a.m. followed by the noon luncheon.

The keynote speaker is former Gates town supervisor Ralph Esposito and the master of ceremonies is Maria Rosaria Vitti-Alexander. Tickets are $20 in advance by calling (585) 247-6601. Tickets are $25 at the door. The Italian Civic League was founded in 1934.The Monroe County Legislature designated the organization to honor Italian American heritage.
