Trento is one of the most intelligent smart-cities in the world because it makes the lives of its inhabitants easier by using technology, according to the IEEE (Institute of Electronical and Electronics Engineers): the other 4 cities to make the list are Guadalajara , Mexico; Wuxi , China; Kansas City, Missouri; and Casablanca, Morocco). What does Trento do with technology, exactly? The public will find out during Trento Smart City Week that takes place from September 10 – 15.
Taking place in Piazza Duomo and the Museo delle Scienze, will be a presentation of how technology can be used for social welfare, making the community "smart" – from home automation that helps the elderly in need, to a personalized "app" that manages parking, or the sharing of rides (carpooling) and healthy recipes. Even tips for how to be a good neighbor. A perfect example is the project Abito.me (live.me), a service for residents of an apartment building who want to purchase together and share certain goods and services, for example wifi.
