Italy’s changing demographic landscape is creating new conversations about where people live best – and why. A major nationwide study released by Il Sole 24 Ore has mapped the quality of life for children, young adults, and seniors across the country, revealing an Italy increasingly shaped by services, social connections, urban accessibility, and long-term sustainability rather than simply income levels alone.
The 2026 edition of the research examined 60 indicators divided equally among three age groups – children, young adults between 18 and 35, and residents over 65.
