An Italian manufacturer of battery components is investing $3.3 million to expand its operations in Iredell County. Accuma Corp. plans to establish lead bushing manufacturing at its Statesville facility on Fanjoy Road. Lead bushings serve as terminals for batteries used in products including cars, forklifts, and telecommunications equipment.
The family-owned company has operated in Iredell County for 41 years. Its Statesville facility currently manufactures plastic injection-molded products for the battery industry, while lead bushings are imported from Italy, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
