The U.S.–Italy economic relationship has already crossed the threshold of strategic relevance. With bilateral trade above $100 billion, expanding investment flows and Italian companies supporting hundreds of thousands of American jobs, the challenge now is to turn a strong partnership into a more integrated industrial platform — from shipbuilding and aerospace to AI, cloud infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
Last month, in Washington, D.C., Decode39, in partnership with the Wilson Center, hosted a high-level discussion on the evolution of U.S.–Italy economic relations. Marking 165 years of diplomatic ties between Rome and Washington, the event brought together parliamentarians, business leaders, and Italy’s Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti.
