Taxes are an important part of every country's economic system, but the way they are collected can shape how families experience them. In Italy, a large share of household taxation is paid automatically through payroll deductions or included in the price of everyday goods and services, making much of the overall contribution less visible in daily life.
According to an analysis by the CGIA Research Office in Mestre, a representative Italian household will contribute about €20,592 in taxes and social contributions during 2026.
