Italy is rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s leading markets for agrivoltaics – the combination of solar energy production and agricultural activity on the same land. The sector is expanding at a remarkable pace, driven by public incentives, climate concerns, and the need to strengthen both food security and renewable energy generation at the same time.
According to new figures presented by Legambiente, investments in Italian agrivoltaic projects surpassed €17 billion in 2024, highlighting how quickly the technology is moving from experimental pilot programs to large-scale infrastructure.
