The Committee of Italians Abroad (Com.It.Es.) in Houston expresses strong satisfaction with the launch of the new direct flight connecting Houston and Rome, operated by ITA Airways. This marks a historic achievement, long awaited by our community, as it creates the first nonstop link between the two cities and brings people, families, and regions closer together in a tangible way.
The inaugural flight ceremony took place at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on May 1, in the presence of Consul General Mauro Lorenzini and Comites President Salvo Saieva.
This new route represents far more than an air connection – it is a bridge between stories, relationships, and identities. For the Italian community in Houston and across the broader consular district, it means maintaining a more immediate and meaningful connection with Italy, making travel, reunions, and exchanges – all essential aspects of life abroad – easier and more frequent.
At the same time, the route is expected to create new opportunities for collaboration, growth, and dialogue between Italy and the United States, strengthening an Italian presence in the region that in recent years has become increasingly dynamic, cohesive, and engaged.
The Com.It.Es. of Houston views this milestone with pride and optimism and reaffirms its commitment to working alongside the community to make the most of every opportunity that strengthens a sense of belonging and fosters new ties between the two countries.
