Gov. Polis calls Pueblo da Vinci Museum 'transformational investment'

By: Justin Reutter

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis retroactively proclaimed June 12 as "Leonardo da Vinci Day" in Colorado during a June 22 visit to Pueblo's new Leonardo da Vinci Museum of North America & STEAM Center. The museum, which officially opened its doors to the public on June 12, features reconstructions of the 15th-century Italian Renaissance man's inventions, along with reproductions of his artistic works, "inspiring visitors of all ages with the intersection of art, engineering, science, and imagination," Polis said in the proclamation he made during his visit.

"Pueblo's rich industrial heritage, entrepreneurial spirit, and art and education community make it an ideal home for a museum honoring one of history's greatest inventors and visionaries," he said. "The Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of North America & STEAM Center will expand educational and cultural opportunities across southern Colorado, through workshops, camps, after-school programs, and hands-on learning opportunities for students and families."
