Giornate FAI d’autunno 2025: Italy opens its hidden treasures

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

On Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12, 2025, Italy will once again throw open the doors to over 700 rarely seen sites as part of the Giornate FAI d’Autunno – the 14th edition of this nationwide event. In 350 cities from north to south, hidden palazzos, secret gardens, historic homes, and shaded courtyards will welcome visitors – many for the very first time.

This autumn tradition is more than a tourist attraction – it’s a celebration of national heritage. Organized by the Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (FAI), this weekend gives ordinary people the chance to explore architectural treasures usually closed to the public and to connect with the stories, art, and landscapes that shape Italy’s identity. Here’s what to expect – and how to make the most of it.
