Italy strengthened its position as one of Europe’s leading ice cream producers in 2025, recording the fastest production growth among the European Union’s largest manufacturers. Although Germany retained first place, Italy rose to second in both production and exports, confirming the commercial importance of a product deeply connected to Italian history, craftsmanship and food culture.
According to the latest European statistics, EU countries produced 3.44 billion liters of ice cream in 2025, up 1.9% from 3.38 billion liters in 2024. Germany remained the largest producer with 608 million liters, but Italy followed with 549 million liters, overtaking France, which produced 525 million.
