Last week, a 23-meter waterfall of cashmere descended from the ceiling of the Brant Foundation Art Study Center, spilling onto a long dining table below. Upstairs, a monumental ball of raw fiber, landscape tapestries, and webbed strands of yarn offered another perspective on the same material. For this spectacular atmosphere, an unassuming East Village arts institution had become “Galleria Falconeri,” a one-night exhibition staged by Italian knitwear brand Falconeri.
Rather than presenting a traditional collection, the event explored the transformation of cashmere from raw fiber to finished garment, bringing fashion into conversation with contemporary art and design. Across the gallery, familiar materials took on unfamiliar proportions, with installations emphasizing the texture, movement, and sculptural possibilities of the fiber.
