The Sons & Daughters of Italy hosted its second annual Gaelic & Garlic dinner on Sunday, selling out the event at Casa Italiana in Springfield, MA. The celebration comes as western Massachusetts communities prepare for the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade, which is less than one week away.
The dinner featured a notable menu change for the Italian social club, which served corned beef and cabbage instead of its traditional Italian fare. The event was designed to honor the historical ties and frequent intermarriage between Irish and Italian immigrant communities in Springfield.
