While the signs of a recovery in the Italian economy remain uncertain and uneven, the wood-furniture industry seems to be able to continue in the positive trend started in 2015. Sector turnover grew 2.7% in 2015 to reach €40.7 billion with furniture contributing a big chunk to the overall figure as sales grew 3.4% at €24.5 billion.
The first two months of 2016 registered a significant increase of Italian furniture exports (+4.5% compared to the same period in 2015) and even the domestic market – which was strongly affected by the crisis, with a slump of over 30% between 2007 and 2014 – has been on recovery since last year.
