The Italian Heritage Scholarship Fund awarded four $1,000 scholarships this year to graduating seniors of Italian descent, according to a community announcement. The recipients are Gianluca Rey, Brianne Farrell and Trinity Ambruso, all from Norwich Free Academy, and Gemma Tonnuoci from St. Bernard's, according to the announcement.
The scholarship fund was established by the Italian Heritage & Cultural Committee of Norwich, with the initial contribution from Dime Bank in honor of Frank Demicco, a prominent businessman and longtime bank corporator. Over the years, the committee has raised funds through various events and contributions from benefactors.
