Emilia-Romagna has been named Italy’s most “mother-friendly” region in the 2026 edition of Save the Children’s annual report “Le Equilibriste – Motherhood in Italy.” The ranking, developed together with Italy’s national statistics agency ISTAT, evaluates how supportive each region is for mothers and families through a detailed index covering employment, healthcare, childcare services, demographics, political representation, safety, and overall well-being.
Emilia-Romagna moved ahead of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, which held the top position last year, while Valle d’Aosta climbed back into third place. Sicily ranked last overall.
