Joe Faro knew it had potential as soon as he spotted an abandoned movie theater on Route 1. As the owner and chief food taster at Tuscan Kitchen & Tuscan Market, Faro has been looking for opportunities to expand his growing business that offers customers a real Italian experience. "I've been looking around Portsmouth for years. I find the market to be a good market," he said. Faro's company broke ground earlier this month on plans to open a new 16,000-square-foot Tuscan Kitchen and Tuscan Market.
The 6,000-square-foot market and 10,000-square-foot kitchen will be located at 581 Lafayette Road. The project comes at the same time the 46-year-old Faro is moving forward with plans to redevelop 50 acres of former Rockingham Park racetrack property in Salem. He recently unveiled his plans for a 368,000-square-foot mixed development called Tuscan Village.
