Located just south of Florence, Italy, Florence American Cemetery offers visitors a place of reflection set within the rolling hills of Tuscany. The 70-acre site honors approximately 4,400 American service members, most of whom lost their lives after the capture of Rome in June 1944 and during the Allied advance toward the Alps.
Designed to harmonize with the surrounding landscape, the cemetery overlooks the Greve River valley, where rows of white marble headstones are arranged in gentle curves across the hillside.
