Freshman Christopher Sorrentino thanked his family, Wagner College and the Da Vinci Society in accepting a four-year scholarship to complete his nursing degree at the school. The scholarship award, and his remarks, came before a packed ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn during the Da Vinci Society’s 21st Scholarship Awards Gala on Sept. 24.
Wagner President Jeffrey Doggett greeted guests, thanking the community for making Wagner’s growth and momentum possible. Sorrentino, a graduate of Tottenville High School on Staten Island, was an honors student who played basketball and worked while battling celiac disease, said Robert Scamardella, president of the Da Vinci Society who served as emcee for the evening.
