In classrooms across northeastern Italy, an innovative educational project is transforming the experiences of children who have undergone complex medical procedures into valuable lessons about courage, friendship, and acceptance. The initiative demonstrates how even the most difficult moments in childhood can inspire understanding and strengthen relationships among young people.
The program, called “A Scuola con ABC,” was launched in 2022 in Trieste by ABC Bambini Chirurgici, an Italian nonprofit organization supporting children undergoing surgery and their families. Since then, it has expanded throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia and into several communities in neighboring Veneto.
