A local organization celebrated Columbus Day on Monday morning with a flag-raising ceremony. The Italian American Community Center hosted the event and told News 8 the ceremony isn’t just to honor Christopher Columbus, but also to recognize the legacy of Italian Americans and their contributions to the United States.
The ceremony began with the flag raising and was followed by a luncheon and award presentation celebrating Italian culture.
