Centerville woman preserves Italian heritage by penning a cookbook

Centerville resident Francena Hall, 85, has spent decades preserving her family’s Italian recipes in the newest edition of her book, “Recipes My Nonna Taught Me.” Hall said she wanted to pass along the family’s heritage to her daughters, Kristen Lawson and Jill Adkins, and her two grandsons, Chuckie and Max. Max, now 17, loves to cook with Hall.

“I thought, they aren’t going to have any recipes, and I started writing them down,” Hall said.  “Then, I went to Kinkos and made 10 copies, so I could give one to each daughter and my husband took it to work, and everybody said they wanted a copy. Then, I went back to make a few more. That’s how it all started. It wasn’t meant to be sold.”
