A castle of finesse and elegance, the Argiano style in Montalcino

By: Lorenzo Ruggeri

Argiano's wines have been known since the late-16th century, when the noble Pecci family built a lovely villa and adjoining cellar (which still serves as their headquarters today). Since 2013 the estate is owned by Brazilian entrepreneur André Esteves, who relaunched the range, entrusting production to Bernardino Sani and Francesco Monari.

Now Argiano is one of the most eco-sustainable wineries in Montalcino. Plastic-free since 2019, it practises organic agriculture by banning even natural pesticides in the vineyard, and reuses all the waste produced in the cellar. What is most striking when tasting Argiano wines is a style that we could define as exquisitely contemporary.
