As 2025 comes to a close, Carabetta Cares Inc. reflects on a year of meaningful service to children and families in need — guided by a deeply personal story rooted in family, resilience, and Italian-American values.
The origins of Carabetta Cares trace back more than three decades. In 1991, following the heartbreaking loss of her twin sons, Anna Carabetta began purchasing toys and donating them to her local church, driven by a desire to bring comfort and joy to children during times of need. What began as a personal act of healing quietly became the foundation of what would later grow into Carabetta Cares.
In 1994, Anna experienced another profound loss with the sudden passing of her father — an Italian immigrant who came to the United States first to establish a future before bringing his family to join him. Upon his arrival, a position was waiting for him at the State of Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families, where he dedicated his career to serving children. His life of service and commitment to family left a lasting imprint.
Following his passing, Anna turned to health and wellness as a path toward healing and strength — a journey that continues today as she remains actively involved in teaching weekly fitness classes and promoting wellness as an essential part of caring for individuals and communities. This experience shaped the organization’s health and wellness pillar, reinforcing the belief that supporting families means caring for both emotional and physical well-being.
“Carabetta Cares was born from loss, but it has grown through love, service, and community,” said Anna Carabetta, Founder of Carabetta Cares Inc. “Everything we do is inspired by family — honoring those we’ve lost while helping families who need support today.”
Throughout 2025, Carabetta Cares hosted its Bags and Blooms Health & Wellness Event in May and its Annual Golf Tournament in October, bringing together individuals and businesses committed to giving back. What began years ago as a toy drive has since expanded into a year-round family support initiative providing toys, clothing, diapers, haircuts, gift certificates, and essential items to children and families facing difficult times.
As the organization looks ahead to 2026, Carabetta Cares plans to continue its signature events, expand wellness initiatives, and strengthen year-round outreach efforts to ensure families receive support when they need it most.
Through compassion, service, and community connection, Carabetta Cares carries forward an Italian-American family legacy — transforming loss into purpose and creating impact, one family at a time.
