It was a celebratory day as the Bloomfield UNICO Club honored the winners of the Columbus Day essay contest. Monday morning’s presentation, given to honor the legacy of Christopher Columbus, represented the 29th year the UNICO Club has sponsored the essay writing contest for all the elementary schools in Bloomfield.
The essay is an optional assignment run through the media specialist at the eight elementary school buildings in the district and is judged by the Board of Education as well as some UNICO Club board members.
