In the anthropological and cultural narrative surrounding the great Italian‑American identity festivals, it is common to observe rituals of memory taking shape overseas. Far rarer, however, is the journey unfolding in the opposite direction. There is, in fact, a subtle yet indestructible thread linking the asphalt of New Jersey and the banks of the Delaware River to the highest peaks of the Apennines.
Every three years, between September 7 and 9, this transatlantic axis comes alive again, drawing hundreds of families scattered overseas back to Capracotta, in Molise, for a journey of memory that is not mere nostalgia, but a laboratory of new stories and fluid identities in constant dialogue between two territories.
