Attilio Folino, of Niagara Falls, a barber who operated a shop in Amherst for many years, died Saturday in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. He was 88. Born in Nicastro, in the Calabria region of southern Italy, he was one of nine children. After he emigrated to the U.S. in 1948, he worked for Certo Brothers Distributing and Union Carbide, then was drafted into the Army. He served during the Korean War and attained the rank of staff sergeant.

Following his discharge in 1954, he went on to a 60-year career as a barber. He owned and operated Attilio’s Barber Styling on Millersport Highway in Amherst.
