Anthony Izzo, a retired New York City Police Department chief, was found dead in the backyard pool of his Long Island home on Friday evening, according to Suffolk County police. Izzo, 75, was found by a relative in the pool at his Stony Brook residence at around 7:45 p.m.
First responders performed CPR before he was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said they do not suspect foul play. Izzo had spent decades in law enforcement after beginning his career as a police trainee at the age of 17 in 1968.
