Angelo Brocato III, the third-generation co-owner of the iconic Angelo Brocato's Italian Ice Cream Parlor in Mid-City, has died at the age of 85. His brother and business partner, Arthur Brocato, confirmed to WWL Louisiana that Angelo Brocato III died peacefully at home Wednesday after a long illness.

The brothers have owned and operated the historic Carrollton Avenue ice cream parlor together for more than five decades. Arthur Brocato and his wife, Jolie, will continue operating the family business, which remained open Thursday. "Business continues as usual," Arthur Brocato said in a statement, adding that funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized.
