Italian households ended 2025 with a record €6.49 trillion in financial assets, confirming private savings as one of the country’s greatest economic strengths. According to an analysis by the Italian banking union FABI, the total increased by €446.3 billion in just 12 months – a 7% rise from the €6.04 trillion recorded at the end of 2024.
Since 2020, household financial wealth has expanded by more than €1.6 trillion, or approximately 35%. The increase reflects both new investments and rising market valuations. It also reveals a major shift in how Italians manage their money, with a growing share moving beyond traditional bank deposits and into stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and insurance products.
