A new chapter is unfolding for the San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons, as one of Long Island’s most celebrated Italian-American cultural events returns to Hampton Bays on September 12–13.
Drawing an estimated 35,000–40,000 attendees each year, the Feast has become far more than a street festival — it is a vibrant expression of Italian tradition, community, and identity in the United States.
This year marks a meaningful moment in its evolution, with a new presence on the board reflecting a broader shift toward growth and renewed energy. As one of the first women to take on a leadership role within the organization, Francesca Varuolo represents a new generation committed to preserving and carrying forward Italian-American culture.
“For me, this is more than an event — it’s about preserving a piece of who we are,” said Varuolo. “Italian culture is meant to be lived, shared, and passed down. My goal is to honor those traditions while helping the Feast grow and connect with the next generation.”
With a full street closure in Hampton Bays, the Feast offers an immersive experience featuring traditional Italian food, live music, and a dynamic atmosphere that draws visitors from across Long Island and beyond.
As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons is committed to preserving Italian-American heritage while continuing to evolve for the future — serving as a cultural bridge between Italy and the United States.
