My name is Rita Richardson, and I am a proud Italian American living in Nashville, Tennessee. My husband Tim and I recently created a nonprofit association to save an abandoned 17th century baroque chapel in Italy.The chapel is called San Filippino and is dedicated to its namesake, Saint Philip Neri, who was the founder of the Oratorian order of the Catholic Church.
San Filippino is located in Castiglion Fiorentino, Tuscany, and was established in 1674. It was one of the first oratories created in Tuscany. Still today, the chapel houses some of the most exquisite examples of baroque art and architecture found in Italy. Among its many hidden treasures are frescoes, cherub stuccos and a stunning 15th century wooden coffered ceiling.
