A new project aimed at fighting food waste in Italy plans to intercept excess food before it is dumped in the garbage can and redirect it to the more than 1.5 million people helped every day in the country by food charity Banco Alimentare.
The "Life-Food Waste Stand Up" project is being coordinated by food industry federation Federalimentare alongside supermarket trade group Federdistribuzione, the Banco Alimentare charity and national consumer association Unc.
