Robotics is continually proving to be one of the new frontiers for "Made in Italy," and in some niche markets Italian companies comprise the cutting edge. Such is the case with Piacenza-based firm Gaiotto, which just a few weeks ago unveiled its new state-of-the-art facility and has already proven profitable for the SACMI group, which had the brilliant intuition to acquire Gaiotto a few years ago.
1999 was precisely the year in which SACMI, the colossal Imola-based ceramics and packaging machines cooperative (which now has €1.4 billion in aggregated turnover and 4,100 employees), decided to take over Gaiotto Automation in order to make the big technological leap.
