Joe Segreto, New Orleans restaurateur, dies at 75, newspaper reports

Joe Segreto, who ran the beloved Italian restaurant Eleven 79, died Monday (Oct. 5), reports the Advocate. He was 75. Mr. Segreto was born into the restaurant world. In the 1940s, his father Joseph John Segreto had a French Quarter Italian restaurant called Segreto's.

Early in his career, Mr. Segreto worked for Ella Brennan at Brennan's and then Commander's Palace. "He was good. He was so much fun. They took him under their wings," said Brennan's daughter Ti Martin, who now runs Commander's Palace.
