Christopher, LaVine buying Minissale’s, keeping it Italian

Vic Christopher and Heather LaVine, key leaders of the revitalization of the Troy restaurant scene in recent years with their Lucas Confectionery and Peck's Arcade, tell me they have an agreement to buy the former Minissale's Wine Cellar Café, which closed Aug. 28 after 38 years in business.

The $360,000 deal, not yet legally finalized, calls for the pair to take over the property, at 1 14th St., which includes the 1,500-square-foot restaurant; a 1,200-square-foot industrial kitchen where the Minissales produce their Minissale Bros. Sicilian Foods line of pasta sauces, dressings/marinades and spice blends; an upstairs apartment, and an adjoining lot with parking and a garden. (The Minissales will lease back the sauce-making kitchen and continue to produce there.)
