A popular Italian restaurant in Boston’s North End will open up a second location nearby. Limoncello owner Maurizio Badolato has garnered the support of the neighborhood for his proposed “Limoncello 2,” and this week the City of Boston’s licensing board will hear a petition on plans for the new restaurant, which is slated for 76 Salem St., just two-tenths of a mile away from the original at 190 North St.

The new Limoncello will take over the space previously occupied by Urban Cantina, displacing prior plans for a restaurant called North End Oyster, which was proposed last April, as previously reported. True to form, Limoncello 2 will also serve Italian food, plus beer and wine if the license transfer from Urban Cantina gets approved. It will seat 76 people on two floors, according to the North End Waterfront news site, and will have a 1 a.m. closing hour.
