A slice of Italy is headed across the street from one of the most popular parks in Fort Collins. City Park Gelato & Amore plans to open April 24 in the former Little Caesars Pizza building in the City Park Plaza development. The eatery at 1720 W. Mulberry St. will serve about a dozen varieties of homemade gelato — an Italian-style ice cream — as well as fruit-flavored sorbets. The spot will also offer takeout pizza and porchetta sandwiches, as well as retail pastas, sauces, cheeses and meats.
“We hope to carry on my family’s hardcore Italian tradition,” said City Park Gelato & Amore co-founder Paul Pellegrino. City Park Gelato & Amore will use an Italian-made gelato machine, incorporate fresh herbs in some its products and has plans to experiment with different flavors. Not into gelato? To-go tiramisu and cheesecakes will also be available.
