Kevin Pemoulie's ambitious — maybe too ambitious — Thirty Acres in Jersey City will be closing up in November, but another acclaimed young chef will be taking over the space: Ryan DePersio of Montclair'sFascino, Jersey City's Battello, and Nico Kitchen + Bar at Newark's NJPAC.
The space itself needs little work, so he and his partner Cory Checket, who also works with DePersio at Battello, expect to open The Kitchen Step in early 2016. DePersio, who says he's always looking for new projects, heard from a mutual friend about Pemoulie's decision to sell the space and jumped.
