The American Renaissance Foundation is proud to announce the selection of DARYLE LAMONICA, former American collegiate and professional quarterback, as the 2014 Louisiana American Italian Sports Hall of Fame National Honoree.
Mr. Lamonica began his career at the University of Notre Dame, where he was the starting quarterback for three seasons and was 1962 MVP. He was drafted in 1963 by both the Buffalo Bills (AFL) and the Green Bay Packers (NFL). With Buffalo and, later, the Oakland Raiders, Lamonica led his teams to win Division Titles and the AFL Championship. Mr. Lamonica appeared as the quarterback for the Raiders in Super Bowl II. He was a 3-time AFL All-Star and was selected twice as the AFL MVP (1967 and 1969).
Please join us in honoring this superlative Italian American athlete at the 2014 LAISHF Banquet on January 18, 2014 at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside Hotel. Call (504) 522-7294 or email questions@americanitalianculturalcenter.com for more information and tickets.
