A celebration of Italian heritage at Richmond County Courthouse recognizes exceptional contributions of Italian-Americans

By: Carol Ann Benanti

It’s a highly anticipated annual occurrence that acknowledges the esteemed accomplishments and successes of Italian immigrants from the “old country” who comprise the fifth largest ethnic group in the United States. It’s a given that Italy’s rich history, artistic design, classic architecture and age-old traditions have been preserved throughout the world in countless ways.

And they’ve been noted in everything from classic design and contemporary fashion to fine furniture, and even exotic cars. What’s more, their passion for life, and their cultural heritage often manifests itself in their inherent love of fine wine and food and their special affection for time-honored traditions.
