The Torrington Chapter of UNICO National and the City of Torrington will hold its annual Columbus/Italian Mayor of the Day celebration at 9 a.m. Oct. 12 in the Coe Memorial Park Civic Center. This year's recipient of the Italian Mayor of the Day is Victor M. Muschell, who serves as counsel for the Torrington City Council, and has served his community in many ways for many years.
The celebration will also include a performance of the National Anthem by Anne DeMichiel and Chris Cogliano, followed by an invocation by the Rev. John Granato. A proclamation declaring October Italian-American Heritage Month is to be presented by state Reps. Michelle Cook, D-Torrington, and Jay Case, R-Winsted. Citations will be presented to Muschell by the state and the city, with Mayor Elinor Carbone.
