A couple weeks back, I participated in a Twitter chat (#pantrychat, Tuesdays at 4 p.m.) on cookbooks. It was a blast to see what people across the country had to say about cookbooks, from favorite to most sentimental — and the strong opinions of some about never using one. I also loved sharing about my mom's stain-splattered "Joy of Cooking," the school cookbook my family contributed recipes (and hand-drawn pictures) to when we were little and one of my favorite wedding presents: a cookbook from my husband's Aunt Bev, the family expert I wrote about in a previous Let's Talk Food, complete with favorite pages marked and notes added.
Last week, I participated in another Twitter chat (#FNIchat — the FNI stands for Foodies Night In — Mondays at 4 p.m.) on Italian food; the founder, Chef Caitlin of Ohio (@CookingwCaitlin), told me: "The entire chat is super casual and much like a good Italian family constantly asking too many questions." She was right; it, too, was a lot of fun.
