The US Ambassador to the United States Armando Varricchio and his wife Micaela participated as "honorary chairs" at the 2019 Spring Gala of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) in Washington. The prestigious role reserved to the Embassy seals the consolidated collaboration established with the only museum institution in the world dedicated exclusively to the promotion of female artists and one of the most important museums in the American capital. Its rooms host works by American and foreign artists, including many Italian ones, starting with Artemisia Gentileschi.
About 400 guests attended the fund-raising evening for the Museum, including top management of the NMWA, members of the Board of Directors and donors. Marcy Dippel Chairman of the Board of Trustees welcomed the participants and thanked the Gala co-chairs, Marcy Cohen, Kristen Lund and Sara O'Keefe and the guest of honor, the artist Ursula von Rydingsvard whose NMWA's Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Arts was awarded.
