The 75th Anniversary NATO meeting kicked off yesterday in Washington DC, with the participation of a large delegation from Italy, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Senate leader Ignazio LoRussa, Speaker of the House of Deputies Onorevole Lorenzo Fontana and other officials.
Two days ago at Villa Firenze, Ambassador Mariangela Zappia’s residence, representative of the Italian and Italian American community and others, welcomed at a luncheon, Fontana who spoke warmly about the contributions of Italian Americans. He also remarked that since Washington, DC is the center of the world, consequently the Italian community in the Capital is also very important to Italy.
Fontana also spoke about the challenges that Italian immigrants faced when they came to America, noting that he understands the sacrifices they made, because he comes from a family who too had emigrated abroad. CISC Inc. President Francesco Isgro extended an invitation to Fontana to visit the Italian American Museum on his next trip Washington.
