The owner of a popular Brandywine Hundred eatery has opened a new Italian restaurant in Pike Creek. Café Pomodoro Cucina Italiana at 5337 Limestone Road has taken over the space in the Shops at Limestone Hills that had previously been the home of BellaVista Trattoria & Pizzeria and, more recently, Pike Creek Pizza.
The new chef/owner is longtime Delaware restaurateur Salvatore "Tony" Causi, who also operates Café SíTALY at 1710 Naamans Road, west of Marsh Road. Causi, a native of Palermo, Sicily, has been cooking in restaurants for more than 30 years. He first began baking as a teenager with his great-grandfather in Bagheria, Sicily. He emigrated to the United States In 1971, and began working at a pizzeria on Long Island, New York. He eventually opened and operated other pizza eateries in the area.
