The countdown for the 2016 edition of the Festa del Torrone di Cremona has begun. From Saturday 19th to Sunday 27th November, the town will host 9 days of celebrations which will make Cremona the European capital of food and entertainment. The objective is to exceed the evergrowing success of the last few years, which made this Cremona festival a star autumn event on the whole national scene. In 2015, 300 thousand people attended the 9-day event, over 300 coaches and 500 camping vans came to Cremona from all over Italy, local restaurants and venues were packed with visitors.

This year the festival will comprise many events from past editions, such as giant torrone constructions, the re-enactment of Francesco Sforza and Bianca Maria Visconti's wedding and the golden Torrone, as well as feature many new historical and entertainment events.

The starting point will be the theme that has been chosen for the 2016 edition, Time. Although it is seemingly an unusual combination, it is actually a strong and fitting theme because time, just like torrone, is past and present, tradition, history, it is knowledge that is alive and grows as time goes by. But time is also future, surprise, dream and innovation, all the distinctive features which Cremona is rich of, thanks to this typical product and the processes involved in its production.

The events, the gatherings and the experiences that are going to be part of this year's festival will therefore feature time, which is also somehow a symbol of the town since Cremona is the hometown of Janello Torriani, master watchmaker, inventor and genius of the 1500s, to whom the city will dedicate a big exposition during the autumn season and many activities during the Festa del Torrone.
