Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Principal Conductor and Music Director Carlos Miguel Prieto and award-winning Italian pianist Benedetto Lupo will present free masterclasses this month at Loyola University New Orleans. These classes afford Loyola students the opportunity to perform and receive feedback from world-class artists in preparation for music careers. Both masterclasses and a special open rehearsal performance are free and open to the public.
Prieto's conducting masterclass is Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and will be immediately followed by an open rehearsal with the Loyola Symphony Orchestra performing portions of Mahler Symphony No. 1. Lupo's class is Friday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. All events take place in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex on Loyola's main campus.
